Nahar Singh Stadium

Nahar Singh Stadium, formerly known as Mayur Stadium, is a cricket stadium in the Indian city of Faridabad. The last official match played here was a one-day match between India and England on 31 March 2006. In 2017, the stadium hosted a match between the Indian Blind Cricket Team and the West Indies Blind Cricket Team as a part of the 2017 Blind T20 World Cup, with the Indian team winning by a large margin.

In 2019, renovations began to make the Nahar Singh stadium suitable for international matches and is expected to be completed by 2022. Maidan has seen a keeping inning by Douglas Marillier with sweep shots above the keeper’s head to deny India a win, or more recently, snatch victory from a hard-fought steady win from Suresh Raina The stadium is named after the Indian rebellion of 1857 by Nahar Singh. As of September 11, 2018, it has hosted 8 ODIs.

History

On 14 September 1986, the then Chief Minister of Haryana Bhajan Lal promptly affirmed the redesign of the arena. The main match, a Ranji Trophy game among Haryana and Services, was played on 22 November 1982 In January 1987, the match was played between Pakistan Under-25s vs. Indian Board President’s XI at this stadium. The first one-day international was played between India and the West Indies. The Indian team was led by Ravi Shastri and Vivian Richards by the West Indies. West Indies won the match by 4 wickets, although India’s Mohinder Amarnath scored an unbeaten century (100 *). In November 1988, a match between New Zealand vs Northern Territory. The game was a profit match for Haryana player Sarkar Talwar and spinner Rajinder Goyal. Later, three one-day internationals were played. The event hosted the first three one-day matches between India and Zimbabwe for the 1994 Cup 1992/93.
