Raja Nahar Singh Fort

Raja Nahar Singh Fort is located in Ballabhgarh in the Faridabad district of Haryana. This fort was in 1739 AD. The vicinity was built by the ancestors of King Nahar Singh, and after whom Ballabhgarh was named, although construction continued in parts until about 1850. The fort is also known as Raja Nahar Singh Palace.

The palace is now a heritage property managed by Haryana Tourism. It has been redesigned and changed over into a motel-cum-restaurant. The palace has been renovated into an excellent specimen of architectural design with the help of a team of experts.

Kartik Cultural Festival, the main annual fair held in the month of 1996 to November, is celebrated at Nahar Singh Mahal. If it is organized by Haryana Tourism, during the bright and auspicious autumn month of Kartik according to the Vikram Samvat Calendar.

Architecture

The elaborate cupolas and towers of this two-story sandstone structure are spread around a large central courtyard. The palace has six luxuriously decorated guest rooms, complete with royal ambiance. The fort was decorated with minarets at its four corners of which only two can now be seen due to age and neglect. The palace has a Darbar-e-Aam (Hall of Public Audience) and a beautiful palace decorated with a beautiful umbrella.

Restoration

The Haryana government entrusted its restoration to renowned experts Francis Waksiarag and Aman Nath. Aman Nath is a founding member of INTACH and his French business partner Francis Vazziarg, conservationist and founder of Neemrana Hotels.

Current status

The palace is now a heritage property managed by Haryana Tourism. It was renovated and converted into a motel-cum-restaurant. The palace has been renovated into an excellent specimen of architectural design with the help of a team of experts.
